Listeners decide whether to stay or skip within seconds.

If you don't hook the listener in, your chorus may never even be heard.

The harsh reality is that listeners decide whether to stay or skip in seconds. In a world of instant access and endless choice, a song doesn’t get much time to make its case.

In today’s fast-paced, streaming landscape, the road to the first chorus can make or break a song’s success. Every section leading up to the chorus needs to hold attention, build anticipation, and give the listener a reason to stay.

This masterclass dives deep into the critical stretch between the first beat and the first chorus.

It uncovers how melody, hooks, lyrics, arrangement, and production elements work together in today’s top-performing songs to hook the listener and build momentum that carries them all the way to the payoff.
